Southside Massive Working For Charity

Southside Massive team members are well aware that there are those in Hong Kong less fortunate than us. Whilst we dedicate ourselves to success on the water and having fun off the water, giving something back to our community in a very active sense is an important element of being part of the team. Every team member is justifiably proud of our work for charity which we started in 2005. The team will launch a more ambitious charity programme in 2006. Details will be announced at the start of the season.

Fundraising Success in 2005

During the 2005 Dragonboat season the Southside Massive Urban Gorrilaz, in association with team title sponsor AIA, launched a lucky draw to raise money for the Hong Kong Society for the Protection of Children (HKSPC). Through raffle ticket sales the team raised HK$87,651.

The team selected the HKSPC to support as, not only is it a worthy cause, but falling outside the support of the Community Chest it is under constant pressure to raise funds to keep its support services running. The HKSPC used the money raised to maintain and improve their childcare facilities and to the support of the children in their care.
